You simply can't celebrate Halloween without some arachnids around, and making small fake spiders is an easy way to get into the spirit of things. The easiest ones are made from pipe cleaners, and you can also make them from paper towel rolls and other easy-to-find supplies you might already have at home.
How to Make Fake Spiders

Step 1: DIY Fake Body
Get an empty egg carton and cut out one section for every spider you want to make. Cut off the bottoms to make them even. Since the sections are small, you might want to cut out all of these parts now for a dozen small fake spiders.

Step 2: Paint the Sections
Use a small paintbrush to paint the spider's body. You can go with traditional black or try something different. For a lovely touch, you could even try a lavender-colored DIY fake body. Allow the sections to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 3: Poke Holes for the Legs
Spiders have eight legs, so you will need to poke four holes on each half of your egg carton piece. Use a marker to designate the spot for these holes, leaving the front and back open. If you have a hole punch that can make holes in egg cartons, use that to place a hole on each spot you marked. Otherwise, cut out holes with a pair of sharp scissors.
Step 4: Pipe Cleaner Spider Legs
For each spider, turn a section upside down. You will use four pipe cleaners to make legs. You can use matching colors or feel free to experiment with other combinations. A small fake spider can look cute if it has four different-colored pipe cleaners for legs. The sky is truly the limit.
Trim the pipe cleaners with the scissors if needed and then crisscross four of them through the holes. Attach them with hot glue. Once they have dried, you can bend them however you want.
Step 5: Make a Spider Face
Attach a pair of googly eyes using hot glue. If you like, feel free to paint on a mouth or some blood under and around the eyes. You can put these spiders in a basket with fake cobwebs or hang them from string around your house.
Paper Towel Roll Spiders
Things You'll Need
Paper towel roll or toilet paper roll
Foam paintbrush
Acrylic paint
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
Hot glue gun
White paper
Peel-and-stick wiggle eyes
Step 1: Paint a Paper Towel Roll
Trim down the paper towel roll before painting. A length of about 3 1/4 inches is a good place to start. You can also use a toilet paper roll for the spider body. Cut it into parts for more spiders. Using a paintbrush, paint the roll whatever color you want the spider to be (it certainly does not have to be black).
Step 2: Make Slits for Spider Legs
Make sure that the paint is dry before starting this step. Using a ruler, make marks at every 1 1/2 inches on one end of the roll and cut slits. Then, repeat this on the other side of the tube and stand up the tube on one side.
Step 3: Make a Body
Carefully bend down the strips on one side to form a dome for the spider body. Use the hot glue to secure the strips that are on the top.
Step 4: Add the Legs
Turn the spider on its side and fold the two center legs in and up under the dome. You can glue them onto the inside if they don't stay put on their own.
Step 5: Bend the Legs
You can trim the legs if they are too long. Bend out the remaining ones and make a fold in each about 2/3 of the way down. The spider should now be able to stand on these fake spider legs.
Step 6: Finish the Spider
You can make fangs out of white paper and glue them on. As a final touch, glue on some googly eyes.
