How to Remove Sweat Stains From a Leather Sofa With Vinegar

Properly cared for, leather will stay beautiful for years.

If you take proper care of your leather furniture, it will last and look beautiful for years to come. Accidents can happen and if someone accidentally leaves sweat stains on your leather sofa, you can get them out. Sweat stains on leather leave a greasy appearance, but by using vinegar and other household products, you can remove the stain and return your leather sofa to its original appearance.

Things You'll Need

• Bucket
• Measuring cups
• White vinegar
• Cleaning cloths
• Leather conditioner

Instructions

1. 

   Prepare your solution in a bucket.

   Fill a bucket with three parts white vinegar and one part cool water. If using measuring cups, 3/4 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of water will make the appropriate mix.

2. Saturate a clean cloth in the vinegar solution, wring it out, then wipe the sweat stain. Repeat and apply a little pressure so you can be sure to get into the fibers of the leather.

3. 

   Use a cool water rinse.

   Rinse the area with a clean cloth, dampened with plain water, which will help remove the vinegar.

4. Dry the area with a clean cloth.

5. Apply the leather conditioner to the cleaned area. Use a clean cloth and follow the directions on the conditioner.

Tips & Warnings

• Always rinse with plain water after using vinegar, which is acidic, to remove sweat stains from your leather sofa.

• Saturate the stains so the vinegar gets into the leather fibers, otherwise the salt from sweat may be left behind when you're finished cleaning.
