How to Format a Partition in a Removable Drive
Removable USB flash drives often come pre-formatted with a partition already on them. If you want to reformat the drive and partitions upon it, you can do so. This process deletes all of the information on the drive and partitions, so use caution when performing a format on your removable drive.

Insert the removable drive into your computer and wait for it to be detected by the operating system.

Open Windows Explorer from the "Start" menu or double-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop or "Start" menu.

Right-click on the removable drive and click on the "Format" option.

Choose the file system type for the drive, type in a label for the drive and then click the "Start" button. The drive is formatted and ready to use once the format process finishes.
