How to Freeze Coconut Macaroons

Macaroons are easy to freeze

Coconut macaroons freeze well for up to six months, but proper wrapping is important. To avoid "freezer burn," store the cookies carefully. Freezer burn occurs when water escapes the cookie, making the cookie dry, according to the Library of Congress. Dry cookies break and loose flavor. Using food wraps and containers designed freezing will help your cookies last longer. Once your cookies are frozen, check them every couple of weeks for damage.

Things You'll Need

• Freezer plastic wrap
• Plastic freezer containers with lids

Instructions

1. Tear off a large piece of plastic wrap from the roll, about one square foot.

2. Stack 5 to 6 cookies in the middle of the plastic wrap. Fold the plastic wrap over the cookies.

3. Repeat with more plastic wrap sheets until all the cookies are wrapped.

4. Place the wrapped cookies into the plastic containers. Do not push cookies on top of each other as this may cause the cookies to break apart.

5. Place the lid on the container. Make sure it is sealed completely.

6. Place in the freezer.
