Retrieve old emails in the application's Sent Items or Sent folder.

Email clients such as Outlook, Windows Mail and Apple Mail store old sent emails in an easily accessible folder, which acts as an archive. If you need to read a message you sent a year ago, or even seconds earlier, open your "Sent" or "Sent Items" folder. It's easy to retrieve old emails and move them to other folders.

Instructions

  1. Outlook, Windows Mail

    • 1

      Open your email application.

    • 2

Click on the "Sent Items" button in the left column.

    • 3

View and scroll through for the emails you want to retrieve. You can sort these messages with the column headers above the main message window, including "From," "Subject" and "Received." Click on one of the headers and the email in the folder will be sorted based on the header. Right-click on a blank spot in the header bar and click "Columns" to make your choices of what headers to display.

Highlight the message. Drag it onto your "Inbox" folder. The old email is now in your Inbox. You also can drag it to any folder within your email application. In addition, you can right-click on the old email, scroll down and select "Move" or "Move to folder ..." The "Move" box opens. Choose the folder where you want to put the old email.
