How to Write a Valentine's Card to a Friend Who Is a Girl
She sits in front of you in class. She listens to you when you need to talk. She's your best friend, and you want to write the perfect Valentine's Day card to her. Often Valentine's Day causes a sense of panic. You may wonder if you can send a card if you don't have a crush on her--or if you do. Learn when to give a card, how to write one and how to express your feelings for your female friend in a way that will communicate exactly what you feel.

Consider your purpose in making a card: to show your feelings; to show appreciation; to prevent excluding her. Valentine's Day is so often associated with love, if you're unsure of your motives, she may be as well. Once you are confident in your feelings for her, you will be more able to make her realize how you are feeling as well.

Research popular media for wording suggestions. If you want to show your feelings for a girl and know that her favorite movie is "An Affair to Remember," watch it and pick out the romantic language. If you want to show appreciation, look at complimentary cards at stores.

3
Practice writing your message with pencil and paper. Copy the wording you found elsewhere, and tweak it to be in your own words.
-
4
Don't be afraid to be sappy. Valentine's Day is a day of celebration and love, so if you add a poem you wrote to her or a few sentences about how much you enjoy being around her, she'll likely be flattered.
-
5
Copy your message into the blank card with a pen. Use neat writing.
-
6
Sign your name. If this is a crush, try "Yours Truly" or "Always Yours." If she is a very close friend, "Love" may work. If you are trying to thank her for a year of hard work, "Thanks for Everything" may be a good closing.

Tips & Warnings
Use the envelope to your advantage. Red envelopes signify crushes, while pink tends to be traditional for this holiday. A white envelope generally denotes no romantic interest at all.
Beware using language that is overly affectionate if this girl doesn't know you well. There is a fine line between flattery and harassment.
Be careful with giving Valentine's Day cards in your workplace or for a female of a different status than you, such as a teacher or boss. This may be against company or school policy and often suggests different intentions, such as wanting a promotion.
