How to Make Pilgrim or Indian Costumes
Children are often asked to dress up for their school's Thanksgiving Day feast. Simple Indian or Pilgrim costumes can be created by making accessories that people commonly associate with both cultures' forms of dress. For a simple Indian costume, make a decorated headband. For a Pilgrim costume, make a white collar. Both only require paper and simple decoration. Does this Spark an idea?

5
Cut strips of paper from a piece of computer paper, cutting from shorter end to shorter end to make the longest strips possible.
-
6
Staple two strips together to make one longer strip. Measure the child's head by placing the longer strip around the head like a crown. Cut down strip to appropriate length to wrap around the head.
-
7
Decorate the headband with markers, using repeating geometric designs.
-
8
Staple the headband together, bumpy side of the staple facing out to reduce irritation of the staple rubbing against the child's head.
