Instructions

    • 1

Cut out an eight-inch circle from patterned paper. The scrapbook aisle of your local craft store sells paper that can be chosen in a particular theme. For instance you could use money designs for a promotion or graduation, musical notes for a recital and hearts for a Valentine's Day gift.

    • 2

Fold the circle, patterned side in, in half. Then unfold. Now fold with the patterned side out and the crease in the center. The initial fold line will be running perpendicular to this fold. Do not crease this fold; just hold closed at the top.

    • 3

Place your finger in the center of the folded bottom of this half circle and press up. This will cause the initial crease to fold up, and the rest of the origami fortune cookie to fold over on itself. Hold the two ends that form together. Replace your fingers with a paper clip to hold in place.

    • 4

Cut 10 X 1-inch strips of paper. Write fortunes, blessings, jokes or special information onto the strip of paper with a marker. Alternatively you can create your phrases on a word-processing program and print out. Gently loosen the fold on the origami cookie and thread the fortune through.

    • 5

Place a dot of glue at the point where the ends of the cookie meet. Hold in place with the paper clip until the cookie dries securely.
