IRS Corporate Change of Address

By April 15 each year, Americans must remit their taxes to the IRS. This applies to both individuals and corporations. If your company address changes either before or after sending your return, you must notify the IRS immediately to ensure you receive all subsequent correspondence from the IRS.

Instructions

    • 1

Correct the address on the mailing label (or virtual address) used to mail (or electronically submit) your return. This can only be done if the return has not yet been filed. The IRS will update your address as the return is processed.

    • 2

Complete a Form 8822 (PDF), Change of Address, and send it to the address displayed on the form. Part II is specifically for businesses and corporations. You can order this form by calling 800-829-3676 or visiting the IRS website (see Resources section).

    • 3

Write the IRS. In lieu of the form, you can also write the IRS to notify them of the name change. Be sure to include your Employer Identification Number and signatures of all corporate officers on the original return. Send the notification to the address where you sent your original return.
