How to Send and Receive a Fax From Your Email
There are several online services that will send and receive faxes from your email. Some of free, most are subscription-based. FaxCompare, a Better Business Bureau-accredited business, offers an Internet fax review website to compare the most popular email fax services. All online fax services work in basically the same way, only the features and monthly pricing differ.

1
Sign up for a plan. Most Internet fax companies offer free trials, usually two weeks or 30 days free. If you're planning to use email fax for your business, it may be worth the monthly fee to sign up permanently with one of these services. Be aware that some free trials limit the number of pages you can send during the trial period.

2
Receive a fax number. During your trial you'll be given a temporary fax number. If you subscribe, you're given a permanent fax number. You can give this number out to clients or businesses and it functions the same as a traditional fax line. When someone sends you a fax, it will be received as an attachment in your email.

Send a fax. To send a fax, you're given a special email address to fax to. The body of your email becomes the cover sheet and you attach your fax as a document. Depending on the service, different file types may be supported. Most services also offer a Web interface, where you simply enter the number you want to fax, attach your document, then hit "send" from the website. This may be easier for some users.

4
Review your receipt and your service. Once your fax is sent, you'll receive a confirmation email stating whether the fax was successful. FaxCompare recommends signing up for several services and trying a round of test faxes at each one. Once you've sent and received a test fax, decide which service offers the best quality.
