How to Make a Paper Ninja Star Step-by-Step

The Japanese art of paper folding, known as origami, is a hobby that doesn't require a lot of different tools and supplies and can be enjoyed by anyone old enough to fold a piece of paper. Instructions

      Place the two squares of paper side-by-side in front of you on your work surface.

      Fold the left edge of each piece of paper over to the right edge and crease the fold. Unfold both pieces of paper.

      Fold the side edges of each piece of paper into the crease down the center of the paper.

      Fold each folded piece of paper in half along the crease you created in the second step.

      Fold the bottom edge of each piece of folded paper up to the top edge. Crease the fold and undo this fold.

      Fold the bottom edge of the paper on the left diagonally to the right edge of the paper. Fold the bottom edge of the paper on the right diagonally to the left edge of the paper.

      Fold the top edge of the paper on the left diagonally to left edge of the paper. Fold the top edge of the paper on the right diagonally to the right edge of the paper.

      Fold the right edge of the top half of the paper on the right down diagonally so it lines up with the crease you made in Step 5. Fold the left edge of the top half of the paper on the left down diagonally so it lines up with the crease you made in Step 5.

      Fold the left edge of the bottom half of the paper on the right up diagonally so it lines up with the crease you made in Step 5. Fold the right edge of the bottom half of the paper on the left up diagonally so it lines up with the crease you made in Step 5.

      Flip the folded piece of paper on the left over and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

      Rotate the paper on the right 90 degrees counterclockwise.

      Place the paper on the right on top of the paper on the left, keeping the orientation of both papers the same.

      Notice the triangle shape at the top and the bottom of the bottom piece of paper. Fold the top triangle over along the line created by its right edge while simultaneously tucking the tip of the triangle under the flap of the top piece of paper. Fold the bottom triangle over the line created by its left edge while simultaneously tucking the tip of the triangle under the flap of the top piece of paper.

      Flip the whole piece over.

      Fold the tip, of what was the top paper (that is pointing up) down diagonally and tuck it into the little pocket created by the other piece of paper. Fold the tip (that is pointing down) up diagonally and tuck it into the other little pocket created by the other paper.
