How to Easily Download Videos From YouTube to a PSP
While YouTube does not provide a download feature for its videos, users can obtain clips from the site by running YouTube Downloader. In addition to capturing media from YouTube, the free utility can convert a YouTube video into a file format that is optimized for a specific device. Sony's handheld game console, PlayStation Portable (PSP), is one of the many devices that YouTube Downloader supports. The program converts YouTube flash videos into MP4 files that are optimized for PSP playback. The game accessory's wide-screen display and high resolution make it a useful media player for viewing video.

Download a Video From YouTube and Upload It to a PSP
-
1
Download and install YouTube Downloader. The free application can be obtained from CNET's Download.com and other software download sites.
-
2
Visit YouTube and access the video you wish to download. Click on the video so that it opens in its own page. Copy the video's entire direct URL from your browser's address bar. Minimize the browser window.
-
-
3
Run YouTube Downloader. Since the video's direct URL was copied, it auto-populates in the program's "Enter Video URL" field. Select the "Download Video from YouTube" option and click "OK."
-
4
Save the YouTube video. After the "Save As" window appears, confirm the saving location and name of downloaded file and click "Save." Your YouTube video saves in flash format (FLV) since that is the only video file type supported by YouTube.
-
5
Convert the FLV video into PSP format. To export your downloaded YouTube flash video as a PSP-compatible file, run the YouTube Downloader again. Open the "Convert To" drop-down menu and select the "PSP Video (H.264 MP4)" video conversion profile. Select the "Convert Video From (Previously Downloaded) File" option and click "OK." When the file export is successful, a confirmation window appears.
-
6
Mount your PSP to your computer. Attach your PSP (turned off) to your computer via a compatible USB cable. Turn on your PSP and the device displays that it is being recognized by your computer.
-
7
Upload your converted YouTube video to your PSP. Open "My Computer" and identify your PSP on your list of connected drives. Double-click on the PSP drive and open the "MP_ROOT" folder. Find the "100MNV01″ subfolder and drag your converted YouTube video into the folder.
-
8
Disconnect your PSP from your computer. Once the video has copied over to the "100MNV01″ subfolder, go back to "My Computer." Right-click on the PSP on the list of connected drives and select "Eject." Once it is safely removed, the PSP disappears from the list and the USB cable can be detached.
-
9
View your YouTube video on your PSP. Navigate to the "Videos" menu on your PSP's home menu, XMB. Highlight your YouTube video and press the "X" button to view the clip.

Tips & Warnings
Before a PSP can accept video, it needs to be equipped with a memory stick and formatted as a USB storage device. Owners should consult their PSP user manual to make sure their device is configured properly.
To adjust the quality of your converted PSP file, click on the YouTube Downloader's "Download Options" button after Step 5. Select "YouTube Download Quality" from the fly-out menu and choose from "Normal," "HQ," "HD" or "Best Available." "Best Available" will be selected by default.
