How to Convert WMA Files to MP3 in Windows Media Player
You may want to convert your WMA files to MP3s in Windows Media Player (WMP) for uploading to your cell phone or portable media device. WMP allows users to convert their songs to different file formats, but only when the songs are ripped from a CD to your computer. Unfortunately, it does not support music conversions when the songs are already in your media library, so you will need to burn a CD of your WMA files before importing them back into Windows Media Player as MP3s. It is important to update your software to its latest version before you begin, because this will help cut down on the time it takes to rip and burn your CD.
Instructions

1
Visit WMP's main page (see Resources) and download the latest version of Windows Media Player. Install and run the program.
-
2
Click the "Burn" tab at the top of the WMP interface. Select "Burn Options" and click "Audio CD."
-
-
3
Insert a blank CD into your computer.
-
4
Locate the WMAs you want converted in your media library. Create a "Burn List" for your music by dragging the song's icons from the WMP library to the "List Pane" on the left side of your screen. (Rearrange your music by dragging an individual song's icon up or down in the playlist.)
-
5
Click the "Start Burn" button and wait for the process to finish. Eject your CD when it is done burning.
-
6
Click the "Rip Settings" tab in the main WMP screen. Click "Format" and choose "MP3" as your setting.
-
7
Re-insert your CD into your computer. Click the "Rip CD" button to begin copying your CD to the WMP library. Your files will automatically convert as they are ripped to your computer. (You will be able to find them in your WMP library when they are finished converting.)
