How to Remove the Stick-On Tile Glue From Linoleum
Glue on tiles are a novice's dream. The simplicity of installation allows anyone to create a new floor. Removing these sticky panels leaves behind a thick layer of glue on the floor beneath. Different floors require different methods to remove the glue. Removing this glue from the surface of your linoleum flooring will take a bit of time, a couple of well chosen materials and some know-how. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Linoleum floor covered with adhesive
- 5-in-1 putty knife
- Boiling water
- Rags
- Rubbing alcohol
- Cotton swabs

Scrape the glue gently from the linoleum surface with your 5-in-1 putty knife. Scrape the adhesive out of the seams and crevices in the floor with the point of the tool. Wipe the scraper with a wet rag periodically to keep the blade clean.

Pour a small amount of boiling water onto the adhesive and allow it to soak into the glue for 1 minute.

Scrape up the softened adhesive with your 5-in-1 putty knife while keeping the blade clean.

Wipe up excess water with rags to avoid water damage to your linoleum.

Dip a cotton swab into the alcohol, and rub it on particularly stubborn adhesive to break down the glue.

Scrape away the residue with your putty knife.

Pour a small bit of boiling water onto the area, and wipe it clean with a wet rag to remove the glue and alcohol residue to prevent damage to the linoleum.
