How to Use a Mac-Formatted iPod in Windows thumbnail
iPods are formatted for both PCs and Macs.

An iPod is designed to work with any version of iTunes, on a Mac or a PC. If you have been syncing your iPod to a Mac, no reformatting is required to sync it with a PC. The process of transferring songs, images or videos between the iPod and the computer remains the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your iPod cord into the iPod on one end and into any of your computer's USB ports on the other end.

    • 2

Double-click on the "iTunes" desktop icon. iTunes will open.

    • 3

Click on the iPod image that appears on the left side of the page, underneath the "Devices" menu. This opens a new browser window.

    • 4

Select the "Music" tab at the top of the window.

    • 5

Click the box next to "Sync Music".

    • 6

Click the "Entire music library" radio button. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the screen. Your iPod will now begin to transfer songs to the PC.

    • 7

Unplug the iPod when the "iPod sync is complete" text appears on the screen. You have now used your iPod with Windows.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may also choose to transfer videos or images by selecting one of those tabs in Step 4.
