How to Launder Raw Silk
When processed, the natural gums contained in silk are normally boiled away. Raw silk, on the other hand, retains these natural gums. Relatively unprocessed, it produces a rougher, more rustic fabric texture than silk satin or charmeuse. As some silk fabrics will require dry cleaning, it is important to check the garment's care label before you begin. In a pinch, you can safely hand wash raw silk fabrics. Does this Spark an idea?
