How Do You Install a D1420 Printer Without a CD?
The HP D1420 printer is a popular choice for both home and office use, but in order to work properly this printer must be installed properly. Ideally the D1420 printer will come with its own installation CD, but it is not unusual for the CD to get separated from the printer as it changes hands. Fortunately, you can still install the D1420 even if the installation CD is no longer available.

Log on to your computer, then connect the printer cable from the D1420 printer to the computer. Make sure the cable is firmly seated on both ends.

Look for the "Found new hardware" wizard in the lower right hand corner of the screen. This is an indication that the operating system has found the printer and is installing the software for it.

Log on to the Hewlett Packard website at hp.com if the printer is not found. Click on the "Support and drivers" link at the top of the page.

Click on the "Download drivers" option and type "D1420" in the search box and click "Go."

Double-click on the driver for your operating system. Download the driver package to your computer then double-click on the downloaded package to begin the installation.

Verify your printer model and complete the printer installation. Send a test page to the printer to make sure the D1420 is working properly.
