How to Change Buddy Icons in Yahoo Messenger
Yahoo! Messenger enables users to send text based communications to other computers over an Internet connection, so long as those other computers are also running Yahoo! Messenger. A buddy icon is the small graphical avatar that is associated with user names. If you want to change the buddy icon you are using, you will have to enter the "Avatar" settings of Yahoo! Messenger.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't already have an avatar in mind that you'd like to use with Yahoo! Messenger, you can create one from scratch using the Yahoo! Avatars service (see Resources). You can start with a blank template and create a cartoon image of yourself (or your "online persona") from scratch, adding in hair type, skin color, clothes, accessories and any other piece of visual information that you'd like to use with your Yahoo! Messenger screen name.
