How to Install the Air Filter on a 2005 Honda

Help keep your Honda's engine running properly by changing the air filter.

The air filter on your 2005 Honda helps keep your engine clean and efficient. It filters air that enters the engine, catching dust, dirt and small particles to ensure they do not enter the engine and damage it. Honda suggests changing the air filter every 15,000 miles. You can purchase replacement air filters at auto parts stores and install them quickly and easily.

Things You'll Need

• Rag
• Replacement air filter

Instructions

1. Place the Honda in "Park" and allow the vehicle to cool for a half hour.

2. Open the hood and locate the air filter housing. The housing is a big, plastic, rectangular case next to the coolant surge tank on the driver's side.

3. Unhook the clips surrounding the air filter housing and lift up the cover. This gives you access to the filter.

4. Lift the air filter out of place to remove it completely. Use a rag to clear away debris and dirt left in the housing.

5. Install a clean air filter by simply placing it into the air filter housing. Push the cover back into place and press down each clip surrounding the casing. Close the hood.
