How to Make a Freestyle Dirt Bike
Becoming the next Travis Pastrana or Kyle Loza requires lots of practice, nerves as hard as ice and a highly modified bike. A new freestyle motocross rider needs a bike that will provide maximum safety while allowing for maneuverability. Lots of money, time and work has to be put into a top-notch freestyle dirt bike.

- Suspension
Instructions

1
Buy a 250 cc freestyle motocross bike. The 125 cc variety isn't used much in freestyle competitions because of the smaller motor.
-
2
Attach a handlebar stabilizer to the bottom end of the handlebars. It will help the handlebars maintain position during harder tricks.
-
-
3
Place an aftermarket chain guide along the chain on the motor. It will prevent slipping during tricks.
-
4
Place a silencer pipe on the motor. It will increase power and speed.
-
5
Apply a stiffer shock to the suspension to help soften the landings on long jumps and to provide extra pressure on take offs.
-
6
Place a piece of small tubing around the throttle cables and lock it tight to the handlebars with a zip-tie. You don't want to clip the cables while trying a cliffhanger, placing your feet under the handlebars while extending out your hands over your head.
-
7
Shave the seat down so that it is easier to move around the bike.
-
8
Cut holes in the plastic under the seat to allow for superman grabs and other tricks.
-
9
Trim the rear fender down to increase mobility.

Tips & Warnings
Try out each modification after you apply it. Feel each new piece and get an understanding of how it works before you apply a new modification.
Don't "overdo" the bike modifications. If there are too many, the bike looks odd. For instance, be careful how much you cut down on the rear fender, because if you cut too much, your bike looks neutered.
