How to Block Junk Mail in Outlook Express

How to Block Junk Mail in Outlook Express thumbnail
Outlook Express can block junk email.

Outlook Express is a Microsoft-created email program that comes standard with Microsoft Office software. Many businesses and organizations use Microsoft Outlook Express as the default email server for the group's email system. Outlook Express allows users to set up meetings with others via the calendar function and then send an email with a meeting invitation. Upon accepting the invitation, the information from the email is automatically added to a user's calendar. While Outlook can be an effective tool, an Outlook inbox that is full of junk mail can reduce the program's effectiveness.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on a junk email message in Outlook Express to select it.

    • 2

Click on the "Message" menu at the top of the page. A list will open.

    • 3

Click "Create Rule From Message." A new window will open.

    • 4

Click on the "Actions" box. Scroll to the bottom of the list that appears and click on "Delete it from the server."

    • 5

Type a name for the rule you just created and click "OK." A name could simply be the name of the email address you want to block. You now have blocked the sender from sending any more junk emails to your inbox. Repeat this process with other junk emails you receive from different senders.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may also block certain words or phrases from entering your inbox by choosing options on the "New Mail Rule" screen.
