The maintenance required lamp will illuminate when service is required.

Vehicle maintenance is paramount to keeping the engine running for years to come. It is so important that vehicle manufacturers are putting warning indicators into the vehicle's information system. The 2005 Toyota Camry is no exception. It has a maintenance warning light that reminds the driver when service is due. Once the required maintenance has been done, the service light will need to be reset, and it only takes a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit in the driver's seat of the vehicle and insert the key into the ignition, but do not turn it on. The key will be in the "Off" position.

    • 2

Depress the "Trip Odometer" button until the actual vehicle miles are displayed. The system reset is designed to work with the odometer displaying miles and not trip "A" or trip "B."

    • 3

Depress and hold the "Trip Odometer" button. The "Trip Odometer" button is located on the instrument panel face. Continue to hold the "Trip Odometer" button throughout the procedure.

    • 4

Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position. Continue to hold down the "Trip Odometer" button until the lamp goes off. The lamp will light for three seconds, flash for two seconds, then light for one second before resetting. Release the "Trip Odometer" reset button once the maintenance light is out.

    • 5

Log the date, miles and maintenance performed for future reference.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ensure the maintenance has been performed prior to performing this procedure.
