Take your baby out for a daily walk during the day. This is when lots of other stay at home moms or work from home moms take walks with their babies and go out. If you have a park within a block or two of your home walk to the park where other moms with young children spend their time.

Let your child play with other kids at the park. Strike up a conversation with the moms of the children your son is playing with. You're both moms with young children so you instantly have something in common. If the conversation goes well and you feel comfortable doing so, arrange a play date for your children.

Offer to host the first play date. Invite the mom to stay and fix her some iced tea, lemonade or other refreshing beverage. While the children play, socialize and get to know one another. If you don't seem to click that's alright, you can try again or meet someone else next time. If you do click, seek to set another play date or agree to meet at the park again that week or the following one.

Continue the relationship by inviting one another over for play dates. Then see if she wants to socialize without the kids. Go out with your partners on a double date, or just have a ladies night out. You could see a movie, dine at a restaurant, get coffee, or taking part in a club or local gym.

As you walk around your neighborhood take note of who has children and who doesn't. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself and be friendly to your neighbors. You never know who could turn out to be your new best friend.
