AVG Antivirus and Antispyware is a computer security program available in both free and commercial versions. If you have installed AVG on your computer to try it and decided that you do not like it, you might want to remove AVG from your computer to make room for a security program that you prefer. Alternatively, you might like to uninstall AVG Antivirus and Antispyware to make room for another AVG product such as AVG Internet Security. Remove AVG Antivirus and Antispyware from your computer if you would rather use another security product from AVG or another company.

      Press the Windows logo and "R" keys at the same time to bring up the "Run" dialog box. Type "appwiz.cpl" in the box and press "Enter." Alternatively, click "Start" and "Control Panel," then double-click "Add or Remove Programs" in Windows XP or "Programs and Features" in Windows Vista and 7.

      Click "AVG Free 9.0" or the specific AVG product installed on your computer, then click "Remove" in Windows XP or "Uninstall" in Windows Vista and 7. The AVG software maintenance utility opens and scans the AVG-related files on your system.

      Place checks in the boxes "Remove User Settings" and "Including Objects in the Virus Vault" to completely remove AVG Antivirus and Antispyware from the computer. Click "Yes." The software maintenance utility removes AVG from the computer. You are then prompted to restart windows.

      Click "Restart the computer now," then click "OK."
