How to Make Jewelry Out of Spoons

How to Make Jewelry Out of Spoons thumbnail
A spoon can be turned into a necklace pendant or bracelet.

Instead of buying jewelry at the store, you can make a bracelet or necklace out of a spoon. The jewelry will stand out from the mass-produced jewelry pieces that cost around the same amount as it takes to make your spoon pieces. Look around your house in the basement or attic for old spoons, or go to a secondhand store where single spoons can be bought for a very low price.

Instructions

  1. Bracelet

    • 1

Choose a spoon that has a handle that's long enough to fit around the person's wrist.

    • 2

Make the spoon entirely flat using a metal mallet. Bend the spoon's handle around the metal pipe using a pair of pliers. Have a friend hold one end of the spoon against the metal pipe while you bend the other end with the pliers. If the bracelet is for you, periodically take the bracelet off the pipe and measure to see if the size needs to be adjusted.

    • 3

Polish the spoon with the silver polish. Use a microfiber cloth to apply the sliver polish, rubbing it in circular motions. Keep rubbing until the polish cream no longer shows up and the bracelet has a good luster.

    Necklace

    • 4

Select a spoon you think would make an interesting necklace. Consider using a small spoon so the pendant portion of the necklace does not hang too low.

    • 5

Hold the spoon down on a solid surface, with the end of the handle hanging over the edge. Have a friend drill a hole in the handle, toward the end.

    • 6

Use silver polish and a microfiber cloth to make the spoon shine. Put a piece of leather or a metal chain through the hole in the handle.
