Troubleshooting Freezing in Zune
While the Microsoft Zune is an excellent MP3 player, it can have occasional problems that must be tended to. Freezing is one of the most common problems and while annoying, can be easily fixed. Depending on the severity of the problem, there are several methods that can be used to bring your Zune back to working order. While most solutions to problems do not affect the content on your Zune, it is occasionally necessary to fully delete all content from your Zune.

Restart the Zune by holding the back button and the up button simultaneously and holding until the screen resets. Restarting the Zune takes less than a minute and can quickly fix most freezing problems. If this method does not work, there will not be a change in the display of the screen.

Unplug the charging cable from the Zune if the previous method does not work. If your Zune is frozen, it will stay on and deplete the battery. Within a day the battery on the Zune will be empty and you can plug it back in and charge it. This will often fix any freezing problem.

Recharge the battery of the Zune and once charged, hold the back, right and OK button simultaneously if the previous method does not work. This method will completely format the Zune and erase all information. This method is extremely effective for fixing freezing problems. Once reset, plug your Zune back into your computer to reload music and update software.
