Becoming a Navy SEAL (SEa-Air-Land)is challenging and tough. It takes a member to be in extreme physical and mental condition, ability to make quick decisions while working with fellow SEALs, under extreme conditions. Here are the steps on how to become a US Navy Seal.

      US Navy SEALs are chosen from both enlisted and commissioned officers. Enlisted personnel must be a high school graduate and must pass the ASVAB test. Military officers are required to have a college degree. Both receive the same SEAL training and pass all SEAL tests.

      You will be required to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to join the military. Your scores on these tests determine the rates for which you are eligible. You must score well enough to qualify for the SEAL program. The test is made up of different subject area that you need to study on.

      You need to be 28 tears old or less to join the Navy Seal. You may request an age waiver (for those 29 to 30). Age waivers are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The current policy set by Congress and the Secretary of Defense, effective 1 October 1994, excludes women from direct ground combat billets in the military. The SEAL program is not open to women.

      Medical Requirements SEALS must have correctable 20-20 vision.

      In order to be a U.S. Navy SEAL, one must be a native-born or naturalized United States citizen, and must speak, read and write English fluently.

      US Navy Seals' physical screening tests are very strict. There are SEAL physical training programs which may help enhance your chances of passing the test requirements. SEAL training is very difficult and there is a high drop out rate during training. The list of physical screening tests are: 500-yard swim using breast and/or sidestroke, push ups, pull ups, sit ups, 1 ½ miles Run wearing boots and trousers, passing a diving exam.
