You can take apart your Guitar Hero controller in the event there is a malfunction.

Guitar Hero is a music rhythm-based game in which you take the role of the lead guitar player in your own band, playing some of the most popular rock music of all-time. The game is played with a guitar-like controller that allows you to strum like a real guitar. Like any video game controller, prolonged use can lead to malfunction. If you need to fix your guitar, you will need to take it apart to get to the inner circuitry.

Turn the guitar over. Flip the guitar neck lock to the unlocked position and remove the neck from the guitar. Slide the faceplate lock to the unlocked position and remove the guitar faceplate.

Turn the guitar over so that the strum bar is facing you. Remove the screws holding the guitar together using the Torx and Phillips screwdrivers. Pry off the warranty sticker with a small knife to uncover a screw.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a list of what parts go where so you can reassemble the guitar at a later date.

  • Make sure the Wii Remote is not attached to the controller and the Wii system is not on during this operation. You will run the risk of electric shock.
