How to Send a Fax With My DSL Modem

How to Send a Fax With My DSL Modem thumbnail
Getting your DSM modem to send a fax requires using it to get online.

Sending a fax with your DSL modem requires a little more than just plugging your computer into the phone jack. DSL modems do not operate in the same fashion as fax modems, and you do have to use an online service to send faxes with your computer and DSL modem.

Instructions

    • 1

Convert the document you intend to send into a digital file that is three pages or less, and save the document as either a .PDF or .Doc file.

    • 2

Log on to the internet and go to FaxZero, eFax or MyFax. All three sites work in a similar fashion.

    • 3

Fill in your name, email address and your recipient's name and fax number.

    • 4

Click "Browse," and select the .PDF or .Doc file you would like to send to your recipient.

    • 5

Re-type the visible confirmation code into the corresponding box, and click "Send Free Fax Now."

    • 6

Check your email inbox for a confirmation email. Click on the link in the email and you will be taken to a web page that will initiate the transmission of your fax. You will receive a final email in your inbox once your fax has been transmitted successfully.
