How to Choose the Right Intel Core Processor for a Laptop
As you choose which Intel processor to use in your laptop, various considerations must be made, including the type of technology you plan to use both now and in the future, the type of hardware your system will require and even the type of games you might choose to play. Thankfully for novices to the processor arena, Intel offers a handy tool that can help quickly choose the right processor for each user's needs.

Visit the Intel Processor Decision Tool and choose the "Laptop" option. Find a link to the tool in Resources.

Answer the first question: What level of performance do you need? Numbers range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest end option. For example 5 would include users looking to take advantage of video/picture editing, gaming, multitasking, etc.

Choose a ranking for question 2: "How many programs will you run at once?" The option includes 1 through 5 apps. If you plan to run more than five applications, you will still choose the "5" option.

Choose your answer for "What kind of movies will you watch?" The question's options range from none, to DVD all the way down the line to Blu-Ray at number 5. This will help Intel determine the processing power you will need based on your high definition requests.

Answer question 4: "What will you do with the movies?" This includes watching standard definition, watching high definition and editing and creating videos and slideshows.

Fill in your choice for question 5: "What kind of social networking do you want to do?" This includes viewing friends' profiles all the way to participating in multiple social networking websites at one time.

Answer the final question--"What type of games do you play"--with various answers located below each number choice.

Click the submit button at the bottom of the questions page. View the processors selected based on your answers to each question on the right side of the page. You will notice a "suggested" offer followed by a "better" answer. Click on either option to view all the available laptop Core processors that will fulfill the needs you have selected.
