While a beginner just hopes to save the ball and distribute it any way possible, an intermediate player moves to positions to help prevent goals, and makes deliberate distribution choices.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soccer Balls
  • Soccer balls
  1. Step 1

Look for the beginnings of leadership. An intermediate keeper begins the task of acting as an important set of eyes for the team, speaking loudly and decisively to direct teammates.

  2. Step 2

Work on shuffling. Side-to-side shuffling is part of the fast footwork that enables a keeper to get to a ball quickly and have a better chance of preventing a goal.

  3. Step 3

Encourage kicking practice. It's important that a keeper distribute the ball to teammates appropriately.

  4. Step 4

Work on accurate kicking. Assist the keeper in kicking at various targets.

  5. Step 5

Keep up with physical fitness. Goalkeepers may move less than field players, requiring special fitness and conditioning work.

Tips & Warnings
  • Learn the language. A goalkeeper may shout "Keeper" (meaning that person intends to play the ball); "Support" (the keeper can take a back pass), and other calls that are also used by field players.
  • Practice with your child. Goalkeeping is one of the most fun and satisfying soccer activities for parents to practice with their children.
  • Put in extra time. Goalkeepers often need extra help because they are sometimes neglected by coaches, who may be short on time or goalkeeping expertise.
  • Make sure your keeper practices foot skills. Although a goalkeeper uses the hands, an often overlooked area of this position is the kicking.
  • Use age-appropriate equipment. When practicing with your keeper, use the proper size ball and goals. This is not only for safety but also for duplicating skills used in competition.

on 11/22/2005 First, your hand need to be in W shaping.Bend our leg.Our eyes focus on the ball because we scared that anytime the opponent would shoot the ball anytime. If you wnt to dive to the right, press your left leg very hard and when your left leg is up,press your right leg very hard. The main thing is the hand shaping and focusing on the ball.
