How to Take Care of Azalea Flowers
Azaleas, a common type of rhododendron, are deciduous outdoor shrubs and plants that bloom year after year with no replanting needed. The flower colors may be pink, white, red, orange, yellow or purple. They can be monochromatic or have a marbled look with pink and white. Azaleas are fairly easy to grow and maintain, making them a popular choice for outdoor landscaping. They bloom from mid-April to early fall. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Plant azaleas in acidic soil that is well drained, because moisture can damage their shallow roots. Top with two- to three-inch layer of mulch surrounding but not up to the root base. This will assist with moisture control and temperature regulation. Keep a small perimeter around the stem that is free from mulch to help prevent extra moisture.

2
Water azaleas conservatively, depending on the conditions. For example, if the weather has been hot and dry, your azalea might require slightly more watering. To determine its water needs, feel underneath the layer of mulch, about two to three inches down into the soil bed. If it feels dry, it needs water. Never let an azalea dry out completely.

Prune azaleas only after they bloom. Trim any stems that do not have side stems and any dead wood; you can do this type of pruning throughout the year.
