How to Whiten Whites With Oxygen Bleach & Boiling

How to Whiten Whites With Oxygen Bleach & Boiling thumbnail
Keep white clothes bright with oxygen bleach.

Oxygen bleach is safe to use on most fabrics and in all temperatures of water. Oxygen bleach normally comes in powdered forms and, unlike chlorine bleach, works to remove the stains causing whites to look drab and dull instead of just masking them. Placing white items in boiling water with the oxygen bleach enhances the cleaning and bleaching action and kills germs. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place white items in a large cooking pot. Fill pot with water. Do not over crowd clothes in the pot as you want the oxygen bleach to move freely through the fabric.

    • 2

Add oxygen bleach to the pot of water. Add the correct amount as instructed on the oxygen bleach container. You do not want to use more bleach than what is needed.

    • 3

Place the pot of water on the stove and bring to a boil. Boiling water dissolves the oxygen bleach crystals, and the heat helps the white fabric absorb the bleach easier.

    • 4

Boil for three minutes, then remove from heat. Allow the water to cool down for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 5

Remove the white clothes from the pot with tongs and place in your laundry basket or into a towel. After removing all the clothes from the pot, transfer to the washing machine and launder normally.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not add any additional cleaner to the oxygen bleach when boiling as it may create toxic fumes.
