How to Make Suction Cups Stick on Tiles

Countless organizers exist for the shower and bath, yet most require installation with suction cups. Many people cringe at the thought of depending on suction cups to stick to their tile because of their tendency to fail and cause bath products to go tumbling. Fortunately, with a bit of forethought, you can get suction cups to stick securely to tile surfaces.

Things You'll Need

• All-purpose cleaner
• Nonabrasive damp sponge
• Dry cloth
• New suction cups
• Petroleum jelly
• Cotton swab

Instructions

1. Spray the tiled surface with an all-purpose cleaner and allow it to remain on the tile for three to five minutes.

2. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp sponge. Dry with a cloth to remove moisture.

3. Dip a cotton swab into a tub of petroleum jelly. Apply a thin layer of the jelly to the inner edge of the suction cup's rim or the part that will stick to the wall. Wipe away any excess jelly with the other end of the cotton swab.

4. Press the suction cup onto the wall to adhere it. The petroleum jelly will act as a seal that will prevent any air from getting into the suction cup and loosening it.

Tips & Warnings

• If you don't have petroleum jelly, use cooking oil as a substitute.

• Don't use scratched or otherwise damaged suction cups or you may not get the desired results.
