How to Make a Homework Calendar
You can make a homework calendar for your students or kids at home using just a home computer, printer and a few craft items. This will help you keep track of the dates of school events and projects as well as daily homework assignments. The purpose of a homework calendar is to keep everyone organized and motivated-and to ensure homework assignments are completed on time.
Things You'll Need
- Calendar template, one page per month
- Computer with printer
- Fine tip felt markers in red, blue, green, purple and orange
- Gold star stickers

Print your calendar onto a standard size piece of paper. Use a neutral color such as black or gray. Utilize calendar a template. Templates are easily obtained via the Internet or are often included in computer software. Alternatively, you can use a ruler and pen to make a box-shaped calendar grid, marking the days of the week by hand.

Assign a meaning to each of your colored pens. For instance, you can handwrite in red school events and holidays for each month. Write in blue school projects on their due dates and use green to write down daily assignments for the week.

Select a color pen, such as purple, to put a checkmark next to each assignment you helped your child check over. Handwrite the letter grade received for each project using another color pen.

Give your student a gold star on each day a project was completed on time. Praise and rewards can help to reinforce good study habits and make learning fun for your children.

Tips & Warnings
Offer your good student a special treat for every 10 gold stars he or she receives.
Tape the month's calendar to the fridge so it's visible and easily accessible to everyone in the household.
Your student may start to only care about getting gold stars instead of appreciating the joy of learning.
