Make MP3 files using Windows Media Player.

To make MP3 files in Windows Media Player, you must have a music CD from which to rip audio. This is because Windows Media Player cannot directly convert an audio file that is in your Windows Media Player library. Instead, it must rip the audio from a CD in order to convert it into another audio format, such as MP3.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 2

Hover your mouse over "Rip" and click the arrow below the button to reveal a drop-down menu.

Click "Format" and choose "MP3" from this menu. This dictates what audio format Windows Media Player will rip the CD to. Click the "Rip" button, then click "Start Rip."
