How to Manually Copy a Photo From an iPod to an iMac
The iTunes program transfers photos to an iPod, but the reverse cannot be done. You can manually transfer selected photos from an iPod to an iMac's hard drive by using a free iPod copy tool program, of which there are a few available that are free. The iPod copy tool program will let you copy the photo at its best resolution to the iMac for viewing. Using an iPod copy tool does not void the iPod or iMac warranty in any way.

Tips & Warnings
Don't run other programs that can affect the iPod, such as iTunes, when you are transferring a photo from the iPod to the iMac.
Copying a low-resolution copy of the photo from the iPod will give you an image without the detail that the original had.
