How to Buy Renter's Insurance in Florida
When renting in the state of Florida it is extremely important to purchase renter's insurance. This is due to the amount of storms, rain and flooding the state experiences. You do not want to be left high and dry if the valuables in your home are damaged due to the weather (or break-ins). There are numerous locations where you can obtain renter's insurance and it is only a fraction of the price of standard home owner's insurance.

Talk to the company that you receive your car, health or life insurance from (if you currently have one of the insurance policies). Typically companies that provide these policies have renter's insurance and you may receive a discount due to having multiple policies through the company.

Take inventory of all the items you want to insure. This can be anything from electronics to a movie collection, jewelry and designer clothing. Write down the value of your home's contents and submit the information to your insurance company. The company will determine the price of a policy based on the total amount of coverage you require.
