Windows and Mac computers both allow users to take screenshots of their computers. This basically means that the user is able to take a picture of whatever is on his screen at a certain time. This can be particularly advantageous for those who want to take a single scene from a movie or video and view it elsewhere as an image file. Copying and pasting screenshots is simple on both Mac and Windows-based computers.

Screenshot on a PC

  • Pull up the screen or video you want to take a screenshot of onto your computer.

  • Press the "PrtScn" key on your keyboard. This is the "print screen" key and it may be abbreviated differently depending on your keyboard.

  • Open the document into which you want to paste the screenshot.

  • Press "Ctrl" + "V" on your keyboard. You now have copied and pasted a screenshot on your PC.

Take a Screenshot on a Mac

  • Open the screen or video of which you want to take a screenshot.

  • Press "Command" + "Shift" + "3" + "Control." This will copy the screenshot and save it on your clipboard.

  • Open the document into which you want to paste the screenshot.

  • Press "Command" + "V." Your screenshot is now pasted into the document.
