Pizza has become a popular dish around the world. It comes in many varieties including thin or thick crust, with or without meat, and veggies or no veggies. White pizza, also known as white pie or pizza bianca, is a unique twist on pizza that is especially popular on the East coast of the U.S. White pie has a variety of cheeses, usually mozzarella and ricotta, and no tomato sauce. You can use any mix of Italian cheeses you wish. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 pizza crust, any brand
  • 2 tbsp. basil
  • 2 tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1/3 c. olive oil
  • 1/2 c. diced white onion
  • 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 c. shredded sharp provolone
  • 1/2 c. shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano

Instructions

      Preheat oven to 450 F. Place pizza crust on baking sheet and bake in the oven for four to five minutes.

      Sprinkle the mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano and provolone cheeses, as well as the garlic powder, basil, oregano and olive oil on pizza crust. Layer the onions on top of cheese. You may substitute mushrooms in place of the onions.

      Place in oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
