Connect headphones to an XBox gaming system.

If you play your XBox where others tend to sleep, you may try to keep the audio down so as to not disturb your slumbering housemates. However, you often need to hear the audio on an XBox video game in order to understand what your task is. Consider keeping all parties happy by connecting the XBox gaming system to a set of headphones--a task so simple it requires just one additional cable connection.

Things You'll Need

  • RCA A/V cables (provided)

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the RCA A/V cables to the back of the XBox gaming system (if they are not already connected). These cables are provided with the XBox when you purchase the system.

    • 2

Insert the red and white audio cables into the RCA audio side of the adapter.

    • 3

Plug the 3.5mm cable running out of the headphones into the 3.5mm end of the adapter cable.

    • 4

Power on your XBox and place the headphones onto your head. You can now hear all of the audio from the XBox system on the headphones.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to adjust the volume of the headphones, it is best to use headphones with an audio-adjustment option built in. If you do not have such a pair, you can bring up the options panel on your video game and turn the gameplay audio up or down as desired.
