Homemade Suet Bird Feeders

Bird enthusiasts are always looking for ways to attract birds to their yards. Making your own homemade suet feeder will encourage lots of birds to gather and feed, giving you the opportunity to observe them and take pictures, and providing them with an easy meal. All the materials necessary to make a suet bird feeder can be easily found around the home or purchased at a local grocery store. Things You'll Need

• Saucepan
• Beef fat
• Nuts
• Bird seed
• Mesh bag
• Hammer
• Nails

Instructions

1. Melt the beef fat in the saucepan, then allow it to cool and congeal.

2. Add the nuts, bird seed, and any other ingredients you want to be in the suet to the beef fat.

3. Round the mixture into a ball, then put the molded ball into the mesh bag. A good example of a bag that will work well is a bag in which onions are sold.

4. Put the bag with the molded ball in it into the refrigerator. Once the ball has hardened, nail the bag to a tree branch outside. Birds will come to the suet feeder to eat.
