If your disk gets stuck in your Zip 250, you can get it out without the help of a professional.

The Iomega Zip 250 is a removable storage device. The device provides a way to read and use floppy disks when your tower or laptop does not have this type of drive. At times, however, a disk may get stuck in the Zip drive. If it does, there are a couple of easy solutions.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure that nothing is physically impeding the disk from ejecting from the drive.

    • 2

Close all applications and programs. Press the three-key combination of "Ctrl, "Alt" and "Delete." Click the "Applications" tab. Highlight all applications except "Explorer" and "Systray" and click "End Task." Try to eject the disk again.

    • 3

Click "Start" in the bottom left corner of your desktop if Step 2 did not work. Scroll up and click "My Computer." Find the Zip drive and right-click on it. Scroll down and click "Eject."

    • 4

Turn off the computer if Step 2 and 3 did not work.

    • 5

Push the small lever on the front of the Zip drive and pull the compartment open if you have that sort of mechanism. You may have a small hole in the back or front of the device. If you do, stick a straightened paperclip in the hole to release the disk compartment door.
