How to Locate Trojan Horses, Viruses & Malware
No matter what type of computer you own or how you use it, you need to make sure you are protected from malware, spyware, Trojan horses and viruses. These malicious pieces of software are all over the Internet, and if you fail to take the proper steps your compute could become infected in a matter of minutes. Finding these malicious pieces of software before they can harm your computer can save your system, and protect your identity.

Watch your computer for signs of infection, including a home page that mysteriously changes and unknown icons on your system tray. Slow performance and frequent crashes can also be signs of a malware or virus infection.

Run an online scan of your computer using a site like housecall.trendmicro.com. Note any Trojan horses, viruses, spyware or other malicious software that is found, and allow the program to cure those infections.

Review the anti-virus program you have on your computer and make sure it is up to date. To check the update status right-click on the anti-virus icon on the toolbar and choose "Properties" to review the status.

Download and install several anti-spyware programs and run each one on your system. AdAware and Spybot are two of the best known anti-spyware programs, but there are many others as well.

Run your anti-virus program on your computer and set it to cure any infections it finds. Run the program a second time to make sure no additional infections are found.
