How to Make a Cake to Look Like the Big Comfy Couch
"The Big Comfy Couch" was a children's show that aired from 1993 to 1996 and featured a young clown named Loonette and her doll, Molly. - 1 box cake mix
- 9-inch round pan
- 9-inch loaf pan
- Nonstick cooking spray
- Oven
- Toothpick
- Knife
- Wire rack
- Cake board
- Frosting

Prepare one box of any flavor cake mix according to the package directions.

Spray one 9-inch round pan and one 9-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. This will prevent the cakes from sticking to the pans.

Divide the batter between the two pans and bake the cakes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of each cake comes out clean.

Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes. Run a knife around the edge of each cake and invert the pans onto a wire rack. Let the cakes cool completely on the wire rack.

Cut the round cake in half. Cut one piece in half again. You will have one half and two quarter pieces of cake.

Place the loaf cake in the center of a cake board. This is the base of the big comfy couch.

Arrange the largest piece of the round cake behind the loaf cake, standing upright with the cut side of the cake resting on the cake board. This is the back of the big comfy couch.

Arrange the two quarter pieces of the round cake on the sides of the loaf cake to form the armrests of the big comfy couch.

"Glue" the cake pieces together with green- or blue-tinted frosting when you are satisfied with the shape of your couch. Spread a coat of the tinted frosting over the top, sides and back of the couch. Alternatively, spread a thin layer of frosting and cover the cake with fondant icing.

Gently drag a chopstick through the frosting to create the appearance of separate couch cushions on your big comfy couch cake.

Use round candies to represent fabric covered buttons on the back of your big comfy couch cake.
Cut a doily for the top of the couch from white fondant or roll white taffy candy 1/8 inch thin with a rolling pin and cut it into shape with scissors.
