How to Hook Up a Digital TV to Cable

Digital cable offers more features than analog cable.

Instead of analog signals that only broadcast video and little else, digital cable delivers features such as video-on-demand, better quality picture and sound, and channel listings. While analog televisions require a converter to be connected before being used, digital TVs offer the benefit of an easier connection method.

Things You'll Need

• Television
• Coaxial cable
• Cable box receiver

Instructions

1. Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the output in your wall and the other end to the "Line In" or "Input" jack on the back of your cable box receiver.

2. Connect another coaxial cable from the "Line Out" jack on the cable box receiver to the "Line In" port on your digital television.

3. Turn on both the television and the cable box receiver, and then set the TV to channel 3.

4. Use the cable remote that came with the receiver to change channels.

Tips & Warnings

• If your television has a built-in cable tuner it might be able to be connected directly from the wall jack to the "Line In" jack on the TV. Contact your cable company for more information.
