Universal remote controls can help eliminate the need for multiple remotes.

Your home entertainment center can become unorganized or unmanageable when you introduce a cable or satellite receiver, DVD player and home stereo receiver to the mix. Although each device comes with a separate remote control, you might be able to eliminate the need for some extra remotes by using a universal remote control. If you have a Sony universal remote, you can program it to control your RCA TV with a few easy steps.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on your RCA television.

    • 2

Press and hold down the "SET" button and the "MENU" button at the top of the Sony universal remote control. Release both buttons when the "SET" indicator lights up.

    • 3

Press the "TV" button at the top of the remote.

    • 4

Enter the RCA television code by using the number pad. You can find these codes in your owner's manual. See the "Resources" section for a link to find these codes online. If the first code you try doesn't work, repeat these steps until you find one that does.

    • 5

Press the "ENT" button. You now have programmed your remote to work with your RCA TV. You can test the remote by pressing the "Power" button to make sure the television turns on and off.
