Homemade Drain Cleaner for Hair
All types of hair can cause a clog in your shower or tub drain. There are several products available on the market that claim to unclog your drain (with varying degrees of success). Most of those products are laden with chemicals and produce nauseating odors when used. Thankfully, you can make your own drain cleaner for hair in your own home. Making your own drain cleaner is better for the environment and can save you money in the long run. Does this Spark an idea?

Pour the washing soda into the drain that is clogged with hair, and allow to set for 15 minutes. You can purchase washing soda at your local grocery store. Washing soda and baking soda are two different things.

Bring 3 cups of water to a boil.

Pour the boiling water directly into the drain. Once again, let the drain sit for 15 minutes.

Bring another 3 cups of water to a boil and pour down the drain. If the drain appears to remain clogged, repeat the process.

Tips & Warnings
If possible, insert a crochet hook into your drain to loosen and remove any large chunks of hair.
Do not use washing soda if you have recently used an acid-based drain cleaner. Doing so could create a hazardous reaction.
Prolonged use of washing soda can damage PVC pipes.
