1
Select an appropriate workspace where you can shorten the band on your U.S. Polo Association wristwatch. Look for a sturdy, flat surface in a quiet room to perform the watch-band adjustment. Spread a soft optical cloth over the work surface to protect the face of your watch from being accidentally scratched or scuffed.
-
2
Determine how many links should be removed from your watch band to create the perfect fit. Wrap the watch around your wrist and count the number of watch links that overlap.
-
-
3
Place your U.S. Polo Association wristwatch face-down on your prepared workspace. Examine the back of the watch band to find the small arrows engraved on the removable band links. Note the direction of the arrows, as they indicate which direction the link pins should be pushed to remove them.
-
4
Take the clasp pieces off of both sides of your U.S. Polo Association watch band if you are removing two or more band links. Locate the metal link pins that hold the clasp pieces to the ends of the watch band. Use a watch pin removal tool to push the link pins that hold the clasp pieces in the direction indicated by the arrows. Set the clasp pieces and metal link pins aside until you are ready to reassemble your watch band.
-
5
Remove the extra links from your U.S. Polo Association watch band by pushing out the link pin that holds the link to the rest of the band. Remove extra links from alternating sides of the watch band to keep the band as even as possible.
-
6
Reattach the clasp pieces to the ends of your U.S. Polo Association watch band to complete your watch band adjustment. Fit the clasp piece to the end of the watch band. Insert the reserved metal link pin in the opposite direction of the one indicated by the band link arrows. Tap the metal link pin into place with a small rubber mallet, if necessary.
