How to Use a Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer

Microsoft PowerPoint is presentation software that comes with the Microsoft Office suite. If you create a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint but you are not sure whether the computer that you'll be presenting with has PowerPoint installed, you can use the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer to create packaged presentations that will run on any computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, if you don't already have it (see Resources section). Once installed, PowerPoint Viewer is automatically added to PowerPoint under the "Package a Presentation for CD" feature.

    • 2

Open the PowerPoint presentation that you want to package.

    • 3

Click the "Microsoft Office Button" in the upper-left corner of PowerPoint. Select "Publish" and then "Package for CD."

    • 4

Click "Options" in the "Package for CD" dialog box.

    • 5

Check the box next to "Viewer Package" and click "OK."

    • 6

Click "Copy to Folder" and select a destination for the file. Once the file is saved, you can store it on a USB drive or other storage device. You'll be able to take the storage device and play the PowerPoint presentation on any computer.
